Get ready for some dam traffic on Tuesday in Mackenzie Park as officials will begin evaluating the Mackenzie Park Dam which is located off Cesar Chavez Drive and East Broadway. According to a press release the area will be closed at the low water gates.

The press release from the City of Lubbock on Monday said that W.E.S.T. drillers will begin the evaluations of the dam on Tuesday and that it will bring traffic delays to the area. In fact they urge drivers to stay away from the area or use extreme caution.

The project will result in possible traffic delays and detours for the public along Cesar East Chavez Drive between East Broadway and Canyon Lake Drive. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area, if possible, and to use extreme caution while driving in the work zone.

No word on how long the delays could last.
