Cyber Monday Brings Out Impressive Online Deals – The Geek Girl Report

For those of you who didn't feel like getting up at ridiculously early hours, standing out in the freezing cold, and attempting to survive the insanity that is Black Friday, I say good for you! Personally, I don't think it's worth getting trampled on to get a good deal on a TV. But if you still feel like you missed out on all the best deals of the year, don't worry. You've got another chance to save, and you can do it all from the comfort of your home.

Today is Cyber Monday, the biggest online shopping day of the year. The term was coined back in 2005, when it was revealed that many people did their online Christmas shopping at work the day after Thanksgiving weekend ended. The idea quickly caught on, bringing in over $1 billion last year, and this year, sales are expected to increase even more. Here's just a small sample of this year's Cyber Monday deals. (Note: these deals were gathered this morning at 6:30 AM, prices and availability may vary:)

Wal-Mart: The retail giant has extended its Cyber Monday sales into a week-long online shopping event. But you'll still want to act quickly to get deals like a 40" LCD 1080p HDTV for $329, or an XBox 360 Bundle, including Kinect and 2 games, for just $350. Wal-Mart is also offering free shipping on all orders over $45.

Target: Not to be outdone, Target is also putting on its own "Cyber Week." All week long (as long as they still have them, anyway) you can pick up a Sony Android tablet for $499 with $100 worth of accessories included at no extra charge. You can also grab a Polaroid 300 digital camera for just $69.

Amazon.com: There are plenty of deals to be found this week at Amazon.com, also jumping on to the "Cyber Week" bandwagon. You can grab a Canon Powershot 10.2 megapixel camera for just $290, and Amazon has its own XBox 360 bundle with 2 (really good) games for just $199. The site will also be cutting the price of select Hasbro games and VTech electronics by 50%.

Barnes and Noble: Unlike these other retailers, Barnes and Noble only has its deals available for today. You can get some of the New York Times Best Sellers titles, like "Steve Jobs" or John Grisham's "The Litigators," for 50% off, and 70% off select DVDs and Blu-Rays. Also, if you purchase Barnes and Noble's popular Nook eReader device, you'll get a free $25 gift card.

Toys 'R' Us: For those of you shopping for the kiddos, (or grandkids) Toys 'R' Us has plenty to offer in its "Super Cyber Monday" sale. All Nerf products are 40% off, Disney Princess products are 20% off, Little Tykes and Step2 outdoor play toys are 30% off, and Star Wars and Transformers toys are 25% off, just to name a few of the discounts.
