Court Denies Another Request to Get Rosendo Rodriguez Off Death Row
A convicted murderer from Lubbock is still seeking a death row reprieve through legal proceedings.
On Monday, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals denied the latest request from Rosendo Rodriguez to commute his death row sentence.
The 37-year-old Rodriguez is scheduled to be put to death in Huntsville on March 27th. Known as the 'Suitcase Killer,' Rodriguez was convicted of murdering Summer Baldwin in September 2005 and is also connected to the murder of Joanna Rogers.
KAMC News reports the court denied Rodriguez’ request for a stay of execution, stating that he needs to prove that the issues he's raising could not have been raised in previous legal proceedings.
The court denied another request from Rodriguez for a stay of execution earlier this month.
