Update: Apparently an attempt was made to fix the mini-sinkhole.

Concerned citizen Brandi Tadlock, who first alerted us to the issue, posted a newer picture of the sinkhole, along with a funny reaction to seeing it seemingly filled up with dirt and debris:

So, I have an update on this, actually...after I reported it, it looks like someone came along and tried to just fill the hole with dirt.

Mind you - this is at a CARWASH, so it's constantly getting runoff from that, and it floods there every time it rains.

I'm no geologist, but I'm not sure that's how you fix a sinkhole.

Anyway, the dirt is already caving in.

You can see the sinkhole below:

Original story: A Lubbock County resident pointed out a huge hole in the ground near the Turtle Hole Carwash in Levelland, Texas.

It appears that it could become really dangerous, and if you've ever watched any videos online of cars falling into sinkholes then this is definitely a spot you would want to avoid.

I literally have nightmares about stuff like this.

A Facebook post warning others about the hole says this:

**For those who drive in Levelland** If you ever travel East down Cactus (headed towards Alamo, like to get to the high school from McDonald's, for example), be VERY CAREFUL turning right (South) on Alamo. There's a VERY deep hole that's almost impossible to see from the road, because it's right behind the curb, in the grass, at the Turtle Hole Carwash. It's been there a long time (at least a year), but it's gotten noticeably deeper lately. It's got layers of trash & dirt in it, so I can't be sure exactly how deep it is, but it's at least 4'10", at the point where I measured. The road seems to be cracking/drooping around where the hole is. I have a huge fear of sinkholes, so I'm avoiding that corner like the plague, especially after getting a lot of rain. Figured I'd warn others, too.

So what's going on here? It looks like it could become a dangerous situation. The most alarming part is just how close this hole is to the street. I also can't help but wonder if there are turtles in that hole just because of the name of the carwash. Ha!
