Corpus Christi Issues Boil Water Advisory Until Further Notice

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Corpus Christi has issued a boil water advisory due to problems with low chlorine disinfectant levels.

The boil water notice issued Friday night remains in effect, until further notice, for anyone who get a water utility bill from the city.

Officials didn't immediately estimate how many consumers were affected in Corpus Christi, with a population of more than 300,000. Water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the boil water order. Corpus Christi officials say no E.coli has been detected and the city is committed to bringing the water supply back to normal levels.

Parts of Corpus Christi were under a boil water advisory for about two weeks last July, also due to low chlorine levels.
