Monday morning on Lubbock's First News with Tom Collins & Laura Mac on News/Talk 790 KFYO, Congressman Randy Neugebauer (R- Lubbock) answered a question that has already come up across Lubbock political circles: will he run for re-election in 2016?

"Tom, that's the question I get after every election 'Is this your last term?'" Neugebauer said during his weekly interview on News/Talk 790, KFYO. "The people of the 19th District just gave me an opportunity to serve a seventh term and we're excited about that, we're focused on that. But, you know, our intention is to run [in 2016]."

(The audio of Neugebauer's answer can be heard at the 3:20 mark of the video in this post.)

Over the past few weeks, Lubbock Mayor Glen Robertson has made overtures about a possible run for the 19th Congressional District seat in 2016. Robertson told Politico last week that he will make a decision later this year about running for Congress.

Congressman Neugebauer was first elected to the U.S. House in a special election in 2003 to replace the retiring Larry Combest.

The 19th Congressional District includes the cities of Lubbock, Abilene and Big Spring, along with a number of counties across the South Plains.
