We're in the dog days of summer, and one last event for Lubbock dog owners will send it out with a splash.

Clapp Pool and Lubbock's Parks and Recreation Department are hosting the annual K-9 Splashfest Sunday, August 16 from 1 - 5 p.m.

According to a press release from the City of Lubbock, the event allows people and their dogs to swim together. There are there different contests: swimsuit (costume) competition, diving and a 25-yard swim race and retrieval contests.

There will be prizes for each event, door prizes and concessions. Dogs must be up to date on their rabies vaccines and owners must bring a tag or certificate from a vet. Dogs must also be on a leash. Aggressive dogs and female dogs in heat will not be admitted.

The City of Lubbock Animal Services will also be on hand to microchip your dog for $10.  Admission fees are: $2.50 for adults, kids 17 and younger are $2 and canines are free!

To be a sponsor or for more info, give the City of Lubbock a call at (806) 775-2670.
