The owners of Raider Park Garage have sued the City of Lubbock for $1 million or more.

According to the lawsuit, the previous owners of Raider Park sought a variance from the City of Lubbock's sign ordinance in 2012, which would allow tenants to install signs that covered around 35 percent of the surface area on three sides of the garage. The variance came up for review in October 2019.

KAMC News reports that the city was required to inform owners of all properties within 200 feet, but the city only sent a notice to the previous owners.

The variance was denied in an October 17th, 2019 meeting. The current owners say that the city denied due process and failed to meet state law.

Allegedly, the supports to hold the signs cost $600,000, but the lawsuit seeks $1 million in damages.

Raider Park Garage is an 11-story parking garage located at 2522 Marsha Sharp Freeway.
