City of Lubbock Facilities Change Operations After Flooding [Video]
Following the heavy rainfall that hit Lubbock back on Friday, March 12th, the City of Lubbock has announced multiple operational changes that started the Monday after, March 15th.
Until further notice, the elevators in Citizens Tower will be unavailable. Only the 1st floor departments will be open to citizens. This includes Vital Statistics, Development Services and the lobby. Staff will still be available via phone and email for assistance.
The City of Lubbock Utilities Customer Service Lobby, which is located at 1401 Avenue K, has temporarily been relocated to the lobby of Citizens Tower as repairs are being made. In a video provided by the City of Lubbock, which you can watch by clicking here, it shows that enough rainwater entered the building to break open a glass door and completely push aside all of the furniture.
Customers can speak with customer service representatives or make an in-person payment from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the self-serve payment kiosks in the lobby of Citizens Tower.
Customers can get into their account to perform normal service functions through the automated phone system at 775-2509. Customers are also encouraged to visit the City of Lubbock Utilities website to request a stop/start of service. A reminder that no disconnections of service are happening in the month of March, and no late fees are being added to customers' bills.
It was also announced that Groves Library, located at 5520 19th Street, will be closed to the public until further notice.
