The City of Lubbock has closed a downtown intersection due to potentially unsafe conditions of a high-rise office building.

The City has closed the intersection of 14th Street and Avenue K, as safety concerns have arisen due to sections of façade tile falling off of a building and landing in the right of way.

This has been an issue with the Omni Building for some time, which has also experienced copper theft and a small fire.

The closure will last for an indeterminate length of time until safety concerns have been resolved, according to the City.

Drivers and pedestrians are asked to avoid this intersection to avoid property damage or injuries due to the falling debris.
