This week on Lubbock's First News, Tom and Laura sat down with Shelia Patterson-Harris. Patterson-Harris is running for City Council and has a strong representation for District 2.

Patterson-Harris has been a long-time part of the community and has dedicated nearly 21-years working with youth at the Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center. Shelia says she hopes to be a good influence and guiding hand.

"We're just one city and District 2 is a part of Lubbock. And when we start and continue to section everything off then we do feel as though we're not being included... And I think that when you start leaving the citizens out I think a lot of citizens have great ideas that they could actually contribute and we don't always allow them that opportunity," she said.

Patterson-Harris also highlighted her community speak outs where any citizen can voice their opinions or concerns. You can listen to the full interview in the video above.
