Imagine spending an evening at home, relaxing with family, when all of a sudden a gun battle breaks out close to your home. You and your family members have to hit the floor because bullets are coming through the walls and glass in your own home.

For at least one Lubbock citizen, this isn't something to imagine; it's something he lived through this past Saturday night.

Sergio Cervantez took to Facebook Saturday night (December 5th) to warn Lubbock citizens about what he went through in the Arnett Benson neighborhood.

According to his Facebook post, at around 11 p.m. on Saturday night there was a shootout between gangs close to his home. Cervantez said police told him that there were over 80-100 bullet casings found in a parking lot across from his home.

Cervantez posted on Facebook that bullets came through his walls and windows, including a bullet hole near a chair where someone was sitting when the gunfire erupted. He made the post to warn others in the area to be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity they see.

KFYO News has reached out to the Lubbock Police Department for more details on the reported shootout on Saturday.

The violence that reportedly happened on Saturday night is just the latest in violence that has happened around the City of Lubbock the last few weeks including a fatal shooting at a Walmart on Friday and a fatal shooting Sunday morning in central Lubbock.
