Lubbockites are offered the opportunity to use public transportation free of charge for one day later this week.

Citibus will be available to ride for free on Thursday, June 21st as part of national Dump the Pump Day, which encourages motorists to save money by using public transportation.

According to a press release, the event is intended to promote public transportation as an option for high fuel prices.

“We want people to know that we are here regardless of gas prices, and that it’s a great way to get around their city,” the press release from Citibus stated.

Citibus maps and route times are available online at www.citibus.com, and buses on some routes run from 5:30 a.m., and the last bus returns to the Downtown Transfer Plaza at 7:55 p.m. Rates range from $1,75 for a one-way pass, to monthly passes for $50.
