A public memorial service was held this afternoon at Cowboys Stadium for slain former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle. The service was open to the public and featured eulogies from a high school friend and Kyle's widow, Taya Kyle.

Taya Kyle tearfully told the crowd of thousands that she and Kyle had fallen in love quickly and he taught her many things.

She told her two children that they made him feel like the best father in the world. She says they'll remember his silly side, Texas twang and prayers they prayed together.

The service was concluded with the signing of 'Amazing Grace' by Randy Travis playing of TAPS.

Iraq War veteran Eddie Ray Routh, 25, has been charged in the February 2 killings of Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield at a North Texas gun range.

Kyle completed four tours of duty in Iraq and wrote the best-selling book "American Sniper."

Tuesday, a 200 mile funeral procession will take Kyle's body to its final resting place. The procession will start on Highway 287 in Midlothian, merge onto Interstate Highway 35 South to Austin and then proceed to the State Cemetery in Austin.
