This Iconic Christmas-Themed Texas Restaurant Is Set To Close After 40 Years

An iconic Mexican food restaurant in Texas that is known for it's Christmas decor will be closing after one last Christmas celebration this year. The move to close the restaurant comes after the current owners attempted to stabilize things after years of struggles under past ownership. That including a time where many thought the restaurant had closed for good earlier in the year because doors had remained closed for a while.

Campo Verde To Close After Christmas

If you've never been to Campo Verde in Arlington, you have missed out. For 42 years, Campo Verde has been a staple of the area. And while people enjoyed the food, the big draw was the decorations. Year after year Christmas decorations were added to the restaurant until they just stuck around all year long. It was a Christmas wonderland. Every inch of the restaurant seemed to be covered in Christmas decor. For locals and visitors, it has become a must-go tradition during the holidays as the restaurant has over 120,000 Christmas lights, 3,000 yards of garland, at least 50 Santa Claus statues, and 30 Christmas trees. Campo Verde also has model trains going around the restaurant.

Earlier in 2025, past owners closed Campo Verde from January 5 until after January 29 which lead many to believe the restaurant was dead. But new ownership came in and cleaned up the place, keeping the decor but getting rid of lights and other things that didn't work.

But according to the Star-Telegram, the long running Christmas party will come to an end after December 24.

Campo Verde To Close and Then Reopen As A New Restaurant

The Star-Telegram announced this week that Chef “Moose” Benhamacht, who helped revive Campo Verde this year, will close Campo Verde for good after dinner on December 24. After some cleaning and renovations, the building will be rebranded and Campo Verde will reopen as a new restaurant in 2026.

So if you haven't been before, you still have time to celebrate one last meal inside a restaurant where Christmas never ends.
