Bizarre Video of Car on Fire in Flooded Lubbock, Texas Street Goes Viral
It's weird enough to see a burning car in the middle of a road. But to see one burning in a flooded street is stranger than fiction.
The video, posted by the official City of Lubbock Facebook page, shows the bizarre scene at 19th Street before Quaker Avenue. Several people in the background look on as smoke plumes from the car's front hood.
"Please, turn around and don't drive through flooded areas," the City of Lubbock wrote for the video's caption.
One person in the video's comment section wondered why, with all the water around, someone couldn't extinguish the fire.
"Can't somebody just scoop some water up and put it out instead of filming," asked Facebook commenter Gerald Critz II.
"Lubbock Fire Department arrived at the scene shortly after and for the public's safety people were advised to stay away from the car," replied the City of Lubbock.
Currently, the City of Lubbock has listed the following road closures for the area due to flooding.
- Cesar E. Chavez & Broadway
- McKenzie Park All Entrances
- 21st - 25th Off Avenue W
- Lake 6 - Canyon Lake Drive
- 21st - 25th Off Avenue X
