Braddock On ERCOT, PUC, Reliable Power Cost Debate [INTERVIEW]
Wednesday on The Chad Hasty Show, Scott Braddock, the editor of QuorumReport.com, joined the broadcast to talk about the latest news and events in the 87th Texas Legislature.
Braddock and Hasty discussed progress and debates on and about the Texas power grid, and the work being done to ensure the availability of reliable and affordable electrical energy. This taking place in the wake of winter storm Uri which left many thousands without power during widespread ice and extremely low temperatures.
While talking about the disaster, the price spikes and astronomical bills experienced by some after the storm, Braddock said,
The PUC and ERCOT, the Public Utility Commission and the Electric Reliability Council Of Texas have been under fire ever since the ice storm a few weeks ago in Texas, and it's just a really controversial situation...This has been sort of a battle....[Electric power] is a commodity that usually trades around $30 per unit, and during the storm it went up to $9,000 per unit.
