Two subcommittee meetings have resulted in some revisions of a proposed bounce house ordinance in Lubbock.

Among the recommended changes to the proposal was the prohibition of erecting private inflatable play equipment in public parks, requiring $1.5 million in liability insurance for bounce house operators, and limiting the time and amount of bounce houses allowed in a park at one time.

The subcommittee also decided that stakes should be used at all times because of the high winds in Lubbock. Bounce houses responsibility for damage to turf in parks was also questioned, with the subcommittee saying other park activities could be responsible for turf degradation as well.

While things discussed in the subcommittee will be taken into account, it is ultimately up to the city council to decide what will be included in the final ordinance.
