The Littlefield prison, which was on the auction block today, has sold for 6 million dollars to an undisclosed buyer.

This comes to KFYO from Jeff Conn, the detention center specialist with the Coldwell Banker Commercial Division who handled the sale along with an auction company. The starting bid for the Bill Clayton Detention Center was $5 million, and included furniture, computers and other equipment in the complex.

The sale of the prison will give a financial boost to the small town's economy, helping them pay off debts gained from the construction and operation of the center. The jail is twelve years old and hasn't been in operation since 2009.
