Baby is currently Lubbock Animal Shelter and Adoption Center's longest stay. She's been at the shelter for 141 days, an incredibly long time for an animal to not have their own home and family. The Lubbock Animal Shelter's amazing staff and volunteers do a fantastic job with their animals, but nothing can beat having a place of your own. Which is exactly what Baby is looking for. From the Lubbock Animal Shelter:

Baby intake is a 7 year old female Pit Bull, who has been with us for 141 days. She is our longest stay. She is very sweet and lovable, but she will have to be the only dog in the house; she does not like to share the loves. She is up to date on all her shots, fixed, and microchipped, and is ready for her fur ever home.

Unfortunately, Baby has a couple of things working against her, she's a pit bull-type dog, she's technically a senior, she's a black dog (they tend to get overlooked) and she must be an only dog. But that in no way means her situation is impossible and we should all give up. I know there's a perfect home for Baby, we just need to help her find it.

Even if you can't adopt Baby right now, there are many great ways to help her and other dogs at the animal shelter. You can foster for both local adoption and transports. Animals that are eligible to be transported to areas of the country with fewer pets need to be fostered in a home first to ensure an easier transition from shelter to a permanent home. Fostering socializes and calms animals, and gives the shelter valuable information about the animal so the right fit can be found. You can also take a dog out on a day "date". And of course, the shelter loves and appreciates its volunteers very much.

The Lubbock Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is located at 3323 SE Loop 289, and is open Monday through Saturday, 10 AM to 7 PM. All animals adopted through the animal shelter are up to date on shots, pay/neutered (or a certificate for a free alteration is provided if the animal is too young), and are microchipped, saving you hundreds on initial vetting bills.
