An elderly man died yesterday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

At about 11:04 Monday morning, 90-year-old William Arthur Naismith was in the passenger seat of a 2007 Chevrolet Impala when the driver,  his 84-year-old wife Mary Naismith, ran a red light at the intersection of 82nd and Indiana. According to Lubbock police, the Impala was struck by a pickup truck, spun around, and hit a van that was stopped at a red light.

An ambulance transported William Naismith to Covenant Medical Center, where he later died. Mary Naismith was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The drivers of the other vehicles were uninjured.

All were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
