
ALERT: Major Recall of Apple Juice Sold In Over 25 States Including Texas
For many kids and adults, having a glass of apple juice is just a nice way of starting the day. In fact, I just had a glass of apple juice at the hotel I stayed in on Saturday. It was pretty good. But there is some cause for concern regarding one brand of apple juice that is at the heart of a massive recall.
And that recall includes stores in Texas
Martinelli's Apple Juice Recalled in 26 States Including Texas
According to USA Today, concerns about a toxic substance has lead to a recall of Martinelli's Apple Juice in 28 states. That's over 170,000 bottles of Apple Juice that has been recalled.
More than 7,000 cases of apple juice have been voluntarily recalled by the S Martinelli & Company due to concerns of patulin contamination. According to USA Today, patulin is a "toxic substance" produced by molds. Patulin is poisonous and can be found in rotting apples and apple products.
The recall is listed as a Class II recall which means being exposed, or drinking the product "may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences".
Can Patulin Be Harmful to Texans?
Yes, it can be harmful to all humans. According to USA Today there can be several symptoms.
For humans, the acute symptoms from consuming patulin include nausea, gastrointestinal disturbances and vomiting, the specialized agency said. The pasteurization process cannot remove patulin from the affected product, the FDA says.
What States Have Been Effected By The Apple Juice Recall?
Texas along with 27 other states were sent the cases that have been recalled. The Martinelli's Apple Juice that has been recalled came in 10 ounce round glass bottles with a white screw-top lid. USA Today reports that the recalled bottles had a “best by” date of Dec. 5, 2026, and a UPC number reading “0 41244 04102 2.”

Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin.
