Amarillo Infant Dead After Dog Attack

An autopsy is scheduled for an infant who was killed by the family dog in Amarillo.  Police tell the Amarillo Globe-News officers are investigating the indecent after the  11-day-old baby was brought in with the life-threatening injuries. The infant later died at the hospital.

Authorities say the mother was asleep next to the child when it happened. Authorities say they have nothing to indicate it was anything other than the dog attack that caused the baby's death. He could not say how many times the child was bitten.

The pit bull/mastiff mix was taken by animal control and euthanized.
