Alton Brown is in Lubbock for his Beyond the Eats: Alton Brown Live show tonight at the Buddy Holly Hall. If you're unfamiliar with Brown, he rose to fame on the Food Network with the series Good Eats and has been on the network ever since doing shows like Iron Chef and Cutthroat Kitchen.

While on tour, Brown and his wife have been living the bus life, going from town to town on tour. After a show in San Antonio last night, Brown showed up in Lubbock this morning and asked a very tough question of the locals.

A question that could have hundreds of correct answers: "Where should we eat today?"

In Lubbock's typical hospitable fashion, the answers came pouring in from the Twittersphere.

Obviously, Lubbock's top 10 in Texas BBQ joint was tagged immediately.

... so Evie Mae's threw their own hat in the ring.

The Tamale Lady in Wolfforth, The Nicolett and Dirk's Chicken got their fair share of mentions.

The people appealed to his foodie sensibilities, naming dishes like Quail Empanadas from La Sirena.

Spanky's fried cheese was also a strong contender being mentioned by the masses.

The dogs at Flippers Tavern got a shoutout.

Bonus Burger is legendary. Shoutout deserved. Shoutout received.

After hundreds of suggestions in nearly a hundred comments, Alton Brown and the crew chose Dirk's Chicken.

If you've never been, the drinks might be even better than the chicken.

Dirk's Signature Chicken is located at 1636 13th Street and offers a wide array of chicken, like Nashville Hot Fried Chicken, Regular Fried Chicken and Tenders. They also have shrimp and grits, plus a myriad of beers on tap and a great wine selection.

I'm certain that Brown and his wife walked out of Dirk's satisfied. Though I'm sure most of the locations that were suggested also would have been dubbed ‘Good Eats’ by the iconic foodie.
