Alamo Drafthouse has officially closed its doors for good in Lubbock. The closure on Sunday is the latest in the up and down rumors surrounding Alamo Drafthouse in Lubbock. The good news for movie theater fans is that another theater chain is rumored to replace Alamo.

Alamo Drafthouse Closes in Lubbock

Some fans of Alamo Drafthouse woke up stunned to learn that Alamo had officially closed its doors in Lubbock. It turns out that Saturday night was the final night of operation. Alamo opened in Lubbock back in 2014. During COVID there were rumors that it could shutdown, but they didn't. Rumors of Alamo's demise popped up again late last year, but Alamo marched on.

Until Sunday morning.

According to KAMC in Lubbock, a note was posted to the doors of Alamo Drafthouse announcing that "this theater is no longer in operation." For those who have bought tickets for future shows, refunds will be given.

The flyer also said that for those who have questions, you are supposed to contact comments.lubbock@drafthouse.com.

Is Flix Brewhouse Replacing Alamo Drafthouse in Lubbock?

Now that Alamo Drafthouse is closed, what will happen to the building at 120 W Loop 289? According to rumors we are seeing and hearing, a theater chain called Flix Brewhouse could be replacing Alamo Drafthouse, but we aren't sure when.

According to rumors, Flix Brewhouse is indeed supposed to take the place of Alamo. If you google Flix Brewhouse Lubbock, the Alamo Drafthouse location pops up.

The good news is that if Flix does come to Lubbock, it appears as though upgraded seating could be in the works and the events along with screenings of older movies could continue.
