A single-engine Piper Comanche airplane went missing last night after taking off from an airport in Abilene.

Lynn Lunsford, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration, said the plane was en route to Norman, Oklahoma and lost contact at about 7:30 pm last night.  At the time contact was lost, the plane was somewhere near Albany, Texas, about 150 miles west of Dallas.

Authorities will be conducting a search for the plane this morning.

Lunsford said officials were still trying to determine who was on the airplane. He said the FAA was working with local authorities to determine what happened to the craft.
