June 19, 2020. It's day that many BBQ lovers in Lubbock remember as a sad day. It was on that date in 2020, that the owners of The Shack BBQ announced to the world that they would be closing their doors for good.

The announcement surprised many, but The Shack had been hit hard by the shutdowns and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Owners Kelly and Kyle Farris announced they would be moving and The Shack BBQ would be put for sale.

It says a lot about the Farris' that they will be coming back to help get the new version of The Shack BBQ off the ground. I remember both Kyle and Kelly working so hard at The Shack and it's obvious they want their hard work to continue on through the new version of the BBQ restaurant.

I can already taste the ribs.

Congratulations to the Farris' on their new adventure and we wish the best of luck to the new owners of The Shack. They have some big shoes to fill and I'm looking forward to trying their BBQ.
