UPDATE 6:32p, October 4, 2013

9-1-1 and long distance service has been restored for Windstream Communications customers throughout the South Plains and Texas Panhandle.  Windstream officials tell KFYO News that the service was restored just after 6p.

Due to a fiber optic line being cut in Lubbock, Windstream Communications customers in a number of South Plains and Panhandle communities have temporarily lost 9-1-1 Emergency Service and long distance service.

The communicates affected are Dumas, Ralls, Booker, Munday, Kamay, Friona, Crosbyton, Cross Plains, Spearman, Loraine, Perryton, Memphis and Seymore.

Windstream Communications officials tell KFYO News they expect the outage to be repaired some time after 6p tonight.
