7-Eleven To Close More Than 400 Stores Across America, How Many Locations In Texas Will Close?
In a pretty big shake-up announced late last week, 7-Eleven announced that they would be closing over 400 stores across North America.
In Texas the question is, how many stores will close across the Lone Star State?
Why Is 7-Eleven Closing So Many Location?
It's all about the money. According to FOX Business, the stores that are closing across the nation are closing because they are underperforming. 444 7-Eleven locations around the U.S. will close due to a dip in sales, decreased traffic and of course inflation.
FOX Business also reported that a dip in cigarette sales had something to do with the under performance of many of the locations.
The chain highlighted that cigarette sales, once the largest sales category for convenience stores, have fallen 26% since 2019 and that a shift in sales to other nicotine products has failed to make much of a difference.
The closures will impact about 3% of 7-Eleven's portfolio as they operate about 13,000 stores in the United States and Canada.
According to the report, 7-Eleven is not in danger of going out business. In fact, according to FOX Business, the convenience store brand announced back in July that more locations would be selling popular international food items. Those items include milk, bread, egg sandwiches and ramen.
Will Any Texas Locations of 7-Eleven Close?
While it wouldn't be surprising to see some Texas locations close, there is no list as of right now with store closures.
Stores that aren't closed could be redone with a focus on food moving forward.
