HALTOM CITY, Texas (AP) — Five people are in custody after four people were shot during an exchange of gunfire during what authorities in North Texas say began as a break-in at an apartment home.

Police in Haltom City say one person is in critical condition and the three others wounded have non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the shooting victims include suspects and people inside the apartment.

Detective Matthew Spillane says the people in custody were in a vehicle speeding from the complex as officers arrived Saturday evening.

It's not immediately certain if those in custody and people inside the apartment knew each other.

Haltom City is just northeast of Fort Worth in Tarrant County.
