Two Texas Tech golf teams will compete in the Big 12 Championships this weekend.

The 29th-ranked Texas Tech women’s golf team aims for its first-ever Big 12 Championship this weekend. The ladies will tee off at the conference tournament in Lawrence, Kansas this Friday.

Tech will be the No. 4 seed in the three-day,54-hole tournament. The Lady Raiders are paired with No. 3 seed Baylor during Friday’s opening round.

The Lady Raiders took victories at the Texas State Challenge last fall and the Mountain View Collegiate in late March. No Texas Tech tem since 1995-1996 had previously won multiple tournament titles in a season prior to this year.

Third-year Head Coach JoJo Robertson will rely on a group of three juniors and a pair of sophomores with the lineup of Gabby Dominguez, Devorah DeVilla, Beverly Mendoza, and Hannah Arnold.

Texas Tech men’s golf will also compete in their Big 12 Championships, to be held at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas.

The Red Raiders are expected to field the youngest lineup in the three-day tournament, marking the first time in Head Coach Greg Sands’ tenure that four freshman players will play in the Championships.

Tech has finished fourth in this event in the past two seasons, and the group sports a No. 47 national ranking.

Texas Tech will be the No. 6 seed this weekend, and are paired with No. 5. Seed Oklahoma on day 1. Their roster includes Clement Sordet, Matias Dominguez, Esteban Restrepo, Henry Todd, and junior Finley Ewing IV.
