The NWS says that the main impact of the storm will likely be accumulating ice from freezing drizzle, freezing rain, and sleet. The potential also exists for several inches of snowfall in the northwestern South Plains and southern Texas Panhandle.
Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected to develop across eastern New Mexico into the western and northern South Plains Monday afternoon and evening.
Travel may become difficult for high profile vehicles traveling on north to south and west to east oriented roads. Patchy blowing dust may also reduce visibility.
A cold front will combine with a significant winter storm system, likely leading to a white start to the week for some in the Panhandle and South Plains.
