Masks will be required for kids in 4th grade and above, and all adults will be required to wear masks. Face shields will not be required, but will be provided for teachers who might be teaching higher risk kids. P.E. classes will still take place, and Lubbock ISD schools have bought sanitizing materials in preparation. Only 1 kid will be allowed to use a piece of equipment at a time, and the equipment will be sanitized afterwards.

The graduation ceremonies for seniors at all five Lubbock ISD high schools will be held outdoors during the first week of June.

Dr. Kathy Rollo joined KFYO Mornings with Dave King and Matt Martin to discuss major changes instituted at Lubbock ISD to ease families into remote learning.

The Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees will meet concerning the future of Lubbock's Smylie Wilson Middle School campus.

Dr. Rollo was also asked about the report that came out that made the top salaries of LISD staff known to the public. In the report, there were several six figure salaries, and none of them were teachers. Dr. Rollo responded by saying, "Well if you think about our school district and compare it to a large business, our district serves 27,000 students, and we have over 3,000 employees. We are charged with safety and security of our students and employees, we are charged with ensuring that our students are academically successful, plus all the extracurricular things that we offer. It's a lot of work to make sure things are running smoothly and efficiently, and so it takes a team of us to make that happen."

Lubbock ISD police are investigating rumors of a weapon being in the possession of a student on campus. So far, no weapon has been found.

Wednesday morning, Lubbock ISD's Whiteside Elementary School and Ramirez Elementary School were both evacuated due to bomb threats. No injuries have been reported. An "all-clear" was given to both campuses at 11am.

The $130 million Lubbock ISD bond issue leads in early voting results. If, approved, the bond would allow the consolidation of three North Lubbock elementary schools into one.

With the first 9 weeks of school over, Dr. Rollo is happy with how the schools have been doing, and the changes that they have made. "We've had an excellent start. It's been great. Everything's been smooth, students are working hard, everything's going well."
