This Saturday, the City of Lubbock is holding a ceremony for the renaming of Canyon Rim Park, to the Carrillo Family Recreation Area.

Muniz was removed from the ballot on an At-Large race for the Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees. He had also filed to run for a Lubbock City Council seat.

The filing deadline for the May Municipal Election ended on Friday with two City Council candidates running unopposed. Mayor Pope has one challenger, and Lubbock City Council District 1 is a three-man race.
