According to AAA Texas, this week's average price for regular unleaded is $2.58 a gallon, down one cent from last week.

The historic cold snap effectively halted oil production in Texas when 11 refineries lost power or had equipment that was too frozen to function effectively.

Most West Texas cities saw gas prices go up between 15 to 20 cents a gallon last week. The statewide average price is $2.40 a gallon in Texas.

The statewide average price for regular unleaded gas is now $1.86 a gallon. That's 30 cents below the national average

Both the statewide average, and Lubbock's average price for gas, dropped one cent this week. Midland and Odessa continue to have some of the highest averages in the state, over $2 a gallon.

The gas prices in Texas have continued to decline despite summer usually being a time when gas prices go up. The statewide gas price average, as of Aug. 6, is $1.85.

This week's survey from AAA Texas shows Lubbock having the lowest average gas price in the state

The average gas price in Lubbock is $2.32, one cent more than last week but also five cents less than the current state average of $2.37.

With an average price of $2.23, Lubbock is trending 4 cents less than the state average. Some local gas stations even have gas as low as $2.09 per gallon.

For the first time since October, the statewide average price for gas went up week-to-week, according to AAA Texas.
