Still No Timeline On When Texas Bars And Wineries Can Reopen

There is still no timeline from Texas Governor Greg Abbott on when Texas bars, wineries, breweries, and distilleries can reopen. Those establishments have been closed since June 26 in Texas and it seems like we are a long ways from seeing them reopen across the state.

According to KRLD in Dallas, the Governor was asked on Tuesday about bars and instead of giving a timeline, Governor Abbott told the media what data he would need to see first and then how bars would have to act moving forward.

“If we were able to get to a positivity rate of well below 10% and maintain that positivity rate and we were able to get to a situation where we were back in the May timeframe of low hospitalizations because of COVID-19 and sustain those rates for a prolonged period of time and if all operators of bars and restaurants and establishments were to follow the safety protocols that were put into place when from the very beginning that required patrons of bars to not stand up, not walk around, not converse without masks, not go to the bar itself but to remain seated at a table in small gatherings and be in a situation where they were avoiding transmitting COVID-19, that could lead to the reopening of those bars."

As the Texas Tribune reported, some bars and breweries have been able to reinvent themselves thanks to clarification from the TABC. However, most bars, wineries, and breweries remain closed with no end in sight.
