On Wednesday's edition of Lubbock's First News, David Weaver of the South Plains Food Bank talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about the latest going on with the food bank.

The South Plains Food Bank recently received a $9.8 million dollar grant from the Talkington Charitable Foundation. Weaver said the grant will go a long way to helping the food bank re-locate to a new, larger facility. He added that the small size of the current facility has caused them to turn away some donations because of lack of space, but the new larger facility will eliminate that problem.

The South Plains Food Bank will also be raffling off a 2007 Shelby Mustang GT500 Convertible, with all proceeds going to the food bank. Tickets for the raffle are $100, and there are 500 tickets available. Sales of the raffle tickets will end on Sunday, February 10th, and the car will be given away on Thursday, February 14th.
