One of South Plains College’s biggest events of the year is coming up soon.

The 2014 Scholarship Gala, hosted by the South Plains College Foundation, will be held on Saturday, March 1st on the SPC Levelland Campus.

The event will be held at the Physical Education Complex, and doors will open at 6 p.m. for a reception and viewing of silent and live auction items. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

Gala organizers are seeking to raise more than $200,000 in scholarship support for next year’s SPC students.

“For many of our students, South Plains College provides the only opportunity available for them to prepare for the future,” said SPC President Dr. Kelvin Sharp. “The college’s desire to expand this opportunity highlights the critical need for more scholarship funds for future and current SPC students.”

Promoted as “A World of Opportunities,” the Scholarship Gala will also include entertainment by the students and faculty of the Creative Arts and Fine Arts Departments.

A gourmet dinner, recognition of this year’s Pacesetter recipients, live and silent auctions, and dinner entertainment from the South Plains Big Band and Dance Orchestra will all be included in the evening.

The event raised $181,000 last year, and 378 seats have already been reserved for this year’s gala.

Individual benefactor tickets are $100 per person and can be obtained from the South Plains College Development Office. Other levels of sponsorship are available to businesses and individuals as well.
