Registration is low for an annual fundraiser benefiting an organization that focuses on helping children.

Registration numbers are unusually low for the annual Tech Theta CASA Superhero 5k.

The event is the largest fundraiser for Court Appointed Special Advocates, which is an organization that gives abused and neglected children a way out of the child welfare system and into safe, permanent homes.

The Tech Theta CASA Superhero 5K will be held on Saturday, April 20th at Mackenzie Park. The organization is hoping to have at least 1,500 people register for the event.

The 1K begins at 9 p.m. and the 5K begins at 9:30 a.m. Registration is $30 for the 5K, $20 per child for the 1K, and includes a tee-shirt. Registrants can save $5 if they register by April 1st.

Registration on the day of the event begins at 8 a.m. Those that donate $100 or more will receive a performance t-shirt.

Participants are encouraged to dress in their favorite superhero costume and prizes will be awarded. Runners, walkers, strollers, and leashed dogs are welcome.

Activities for children include bounce houses, a rock wall, spider climber, and face painting.

Race packet pickup will be April 15th, 16th, and 17th from 11:45 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Bodyworks on 82nd and Slide, and from 8 to 9 a.m. on the day of the event.

Registration is available online at www.casaofthesouthplains.org or at the CASA offices at 24 Briercroft Office Park.
