Monday on Lubbock's First News, Congressman Randy Neugebauer spoke with Tom and Laura about transportation, defense, and the Congressional Art Contest.

On Wednesday, the Congressman will return to Lubbock to join Lubbock Chamber of Commerce in honoring TxDOT Commissioner Fred Underwood for his accomplishments in the transportation department. Neugebauer said, "Transportation is an important part of the infrastructure for our economy." He said at the state and national levels, discussions are active regarding the need for increased funds for transportation.

Neugebauer believes that Putin and officials are making displays in Russia because he would like to see the country returned to Soviet Russia. He noted that in Congressional talks, there needs to be a focus on what the U.S. military looks like. He believes there is a concern due to the cuts in spending on the GDP, questioning the implications for NATO.

Neugebauer also spoke about the Congressional Art Contest that gives high school students the chance to have their artwork hung in the capital. The deadline for submissions is April 25th.
