Lubbock Police are warning area citizens of yet another telephone scam.

LPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Jason Lewis says that they have received reports that some in the Lubbock area have received phone calls indicating that their debit card has been blocked or closed.

The phone call prompts the person to press 1 for more information, and is then asked to provide their debit card information.

This phone call is a scam, and people should never provide personal information, including a card or account number, to anyone who calls you.

Anyone who has been a victim of the scam should note the phone number of the scam call and immediately contact Lubbock Police’s non-emergency number at 775-2865.
