On Wednesday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Nancy Neal with Lubbock Parks and Recreation talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about their upcoming Back to School Kickoff.

Lubbock Parks and Recreation will be hosting their annual Back to School Kickoff at Mae Simmons Park this weekend. Neal said that over 1,000 backpacks full of school supplies will be handed out to any child who needs them. There will also be back-to-school information available for parents. Neal added that there are backpacks available for all age groups, from kindergarten to 12th grade.

The kickoff will take place Saturday, August 24th for 9 AM to noon at Mae Simmons Park. The limit 1 backpack per child, and children must be present in order to receive their backpack.
