Sunday is National Coffee Day. Maybe instead of guzzling beer all day while you watch football, you can guzzle a nice hot cup of coffee on a 90-degree day!

Seriously though, I looked it up and there are currently up to THIRTY coffee shops in Lubbock. That's a LOT of places to pick from for the perfect cup.

Here's my list of just a few of them

What is National Coffee Day

I was looking around to find the origins of the holiday and I really couldn't come up with much. According to CNET though:

Sept. 29 is National Coffee Day -- a day when purveyors of all things joe get to honor our favorite beverage with special perks, including free coffee, drink deals, and discounted subscriptions.

Through my vigorous research (i.e.-three minutes of Googling) I discovered that National Coffee Day is celebrated all over the globe, but the dates differ for some reason. We celebrate on the 29th of September, but many places do it on October 1st.

It also really got it's start in Japan of all places. In 1983, the All Japan Coffee Association promoted the first 'official' event to celebrate the day.

Here are a few deals I found in Lubbock...
