Easter Sunday Shopping: What’s Open In West Texas?
Easter Sunday lands on April 20 this year, and if you're anything like me, you’ve probably forgotten at least one thing on your checklist. Whether it’s a bag of marshmallows for your sweet potato casserole or you’re scrambling for a new outfit to wear to church, don’t worry—I’ve got your back!
The shopping gurus at RetailMeNot pulled together a pretty handy list of stores and restaurants that’ll be open this Easter Sunday. And yep, plenty of them are right here in Lubbock and West Texas.
Who's Open?
Let’s start with the MVP of last-minute grocery runs: Walmart. Yes, it’s open. So if you forgot brown sugar, a basket, or literally everything, you’re in luck. Still, it’s a good idea to double-check your local store’s hours—some locations tweak their schedules for the holiday.
Need a caffeine fix to get through sunrise service or a sugar crash after egg hunting? Many Starbucks locations will be open and brewing up your favorite cup of comfort. Still, check ahead if you’re aiming for a specific spot.
And of course, if you're needing to grab a last-minute prescription, a chocolate bunny, or some much-needed allergy meds, CVS and Walgreens are open—with varying hours.
Fast food lovers, rejoice! McDonald’s, Burger King, and Dunkin’ will be flipping burgers and pouring coffee on Easter Sunday. Just keep in mind, some locations might adjust their hours depending on staffing.
Even discount stores like Dollar General and Family Dollar will have their doors open. Whether you're grabbing some extra napkins, plastic eggs, or emergency batteries for the talking bunny toy, they’ve got your back.
Who's Closed?
But don’t get caught off guard—not every store is hopping this Easter. Here’s a list of places that will be taking the day off:
- United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos
Costco
Target
Sam’s Club
Lowe’s Home Improvement
Best Buy
Apple Store
Staples
Michaels
HomeGoods
Bottom line: Lubbock won’t be completely shut down this Easter. Just plan ahead, check local hours, and don’t forget the marshmallows. Happy Easter, y’all! 🐣
