Discover The Top Thanksgiving Eats In Texas: Turkey, Pecan Pie, And More!

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and Texans are gearing up for the big feast. But what’s actually making its way to the table this year in the Lone Star State? A new poll gives us the lowdown on what people are planning to eat, and while some classics dominate, there are a few surprises too!

First up, no shocker here: 84% of celebrators say turkey is the star of the show. Whether you fry it, smoke it, or roast it, the bird is still king. Following close behind are mashed potatoes (69%), bread or rolls (68%), and pie (67%). Let’s face it—Thanksgiving isn’t complete without carbs and dessert. Around here, I’m guessing pecan pie is the top pick, with pumpkin trailing not far behind. That's just an educated guess though...

Stuffing (64%) and gravy (63%) are holding strong in the must-have category, and for the health-conscious (or those trying to balance out the meal), green beans (49%) and sweet potatoes (48%) round out the veggies. Meanwhile, cranberry sauce (46%) continues to divide the crowd—some love it, some avoid it. Although, they didn't break the cranberry numbers down to those who like it from the can or homemade.

But here’s where it gets interesting. Macaroni and cheese (34%) is climbing the ranks as a Thanksgiving staple, especially for younger families. And while turkey may reign supreme, ham (32%) is still putting up a fight.

Then there’s the underdog: Brussels sprouts (13%). Love ‘em or hate ‘em, they’re hanging in there.

Surprisingly, 19% of people aren’t celebrating Thanksgiving at all this year, citing work, travel, or just not wanting to deal with the hassle.
