Debate Over Kamala Harris Houston Event: Beyoncé Letdown Or Willie Nelson Win?
Alright, Lubbock, let’s talk about what happened in Houston the other day...
Kamala Harris threw a campaign event last Friday that promised a big crowd—over 30,000 people showed up. But here’s the kicker: many came expecting a Beyoncé performance, only to get a Beyonce speech instead.
(In case you weren't aware, Beyonce is from Houston.)
Now, I don’t know about you, but if you’re promised that one of the biggest musical stars on the planet is going to be somewhere, the thought of hearing her actually sing is pretty much a given.
But nope! Beyoncé came on stage to rally voters, delivering words instead of vocals. The crowd did get a show, though, from Texas icon Willie Nelson, who stepped up with a full performance. And while Willie’s a legend, some folks left feeling like it wasn’t quite what they signed up for.
(Personally, I would prefer Willie, but I can see why Beyonce fans were upset.)
Now, was it a “rip-off”? Depends on who you ask! Twitter (or X) was all over it, with one person saying, “So, Kamala Harris baited people with a Beyoncé concert, then had Willie perform? Talk about a bunch of ticked-off concert-goers.”
To be fair, the campaign never officially promised Bey would sing, so technically, no one lied. But did they conveniently skip out on clarifying that she wouldn’t? Maybe. And hey, even though Beyoncé didn’t sing, hearing Willie Nelson live isn’t exactly a loss. Bottom line: if you got to see a Texas legend and Queen Bey in one night, that’s still a win in my book!
