A shocking video from San Antonio shows the dangers of attempting to drive through flash flooding. 

When you think about severe weather-related deaths, you would probably think tornadoes are responsible for most of them. But you would be wrong. 

According to the NOAA National Severe Storms Laboratory, floods kill more people each year in the U.S. than tornadoes, hurricanes, or lightning.

And flash floods are the most dangerous type of floods. 

I have experienced firsthand just how quickly the floodwaters rise during flash flooding. It is terrifying how fast the water rises. What looks like a safe path to drive on can quickly become deadly. 

Your best bet is to adhere to the old saying “turn around, don’t drown.” But as I mentioned, it’s easy to get caught off guard by flash flooding. 

As you can see in the video below, several vehicles were trapped in flash flooding in San Antonio recently. Fortunately, first responders were on the scene to rescue those who were trapped.
