Watch Your Words: Texans Tell What Words And Phrases Annoy Them
Texas residents speak up on what annoys them most.
Texans Take Note Of Your Language
Prepare to be a little offended—I certainly was. As I read through this list, I realized that many of these words and phrases are part of my everyday vocabulary. I had no idea that I was being one of "those" people, at least in the eyes of some fellow Texans. It’s always a bit eye-opening to hear someone complain about something you do all the time without a second thought.
This Texan Will Learn From It
That being said, I’m choosing to take this as a learning experience rather than just getting defensive. Maybe it's time to clean up my language a bit. I never realized how many of the things I say regularly are considered redundant, trite, overused, or just unnecessary. Some of them might even come across as irritating to others, and that’s definitely not my intention. I also know that I could be a much better listener in general, and maybe the best course of action is to simply talk less and pay more attention to the conversation around me.
Texans From All Over Answered
To put together this list, we surveyed people across more than a half-dozen Facebook sites and groups. We received input from a wide range of individuals, giving us a broad perspective on which words and phrases tend to get under people’s skin. Of course, language is always subjective—what one person finds annoying, another might find completely normal. That’s what makes this kind of list so interesting.
And Here They Are
There are no absolute right or wrong answers, just honest opinions. Whether you agree or disagree with what’s included, it’s always good to know what other people are thinking. Who knows? You might even discover that you’ve been using a few of these phrases yourself without realizing how they come across to others. So away we go with, "What's Something People Say That's Always Annoying?".
