Texas Starbucks Are Going Through Changes- Here’s What To Expect
Texas is chocked full of Starbucks locations. The only state that has more than us is California. In fact, Texas has 600 more locations than Starbucks's home state of Washington.
Starbucks has recently announced big changes- not only to the menu but to the "culture" as well. Here's how these changes will affect Texas folks who love their Starbies.
Fewer Options
According to CNN, Starbucks is cutting its menu choices by nearly a third. Starbucks' new CEO Brian Niccol (previously of Chipotle and Taco Bell) announced the decision during a recent earnings call.
The culling of menu options is to reduce wait times for customers and to improve customer experience (unless your ideal experience was having 30% more options). This change will include both food and drinks.
Additionally, a slimmer menu means Starbucks can pivot more easily based on "cultural movements," that is, viral drink trends like the Dubai matcha drink.
Some items have already been removed from Starbucks menus including the olive oil drinks and iced energy drinks.
Meanwhile, Starbucks has recently added the cortado (an espresso drink that orginated in Spain), and new items for Spring will pop up soon, including a Cherry Chai drink.
No Free Bathrooms, Free Condiments, Less Deals
Starbucks' open-door policy is now a thing of the past- the seating area and bathrooms are now for paying customers only.
However, if you are a fan of putting your own cream and sugar into your drink, you'll be pleased to know the condiment bar is making a comeback.
If you were a master of getting a great deal on Starbucks drinks, you might have to rethink your strategy. There are far fewer deals to be had, which has resulted in a 40% drop in discounted tickets already.
Starbucks had experienced four consecutive quarters of declining sales (that is, two years worth). If these changes work, we'll know after the next earnings call.
