
Texas Man Killed By Police After Holding Wife Hostage at Gunpoint
The Travis County Sheriff's Department responded to a 911 call that led to them shooting and killing a man who was holding a gun to his wife's head and refused to drop the weapon.

The man's son, who lives out of state, called 911 and told them his father was holding his mother at gunpoint, and police arrived at a home in the 14200 block of FM 2768 at 4:17 pm, where they heard cries for help. The man was holding her hostage with a gun to her head.

A sheriff's deputy shot and killed the man after attempts to get him to drop the weapon were ignored. The woman was not injured.

This case is being investigated by the Texas Rangers as well as the Travis County Sheriff's Office, and the deputy who killed the man has been put on administrative leave, which is standard practice after an event of this nature.
In 2022, Texas statistics for family violence indicate that there were over 250,000 reported cases, which was a 10% increase from 2021.
